It was 1993. A musician from a local punk band (Corrosion of Conformity, for those of us who were fans) and two of his friends had the crazy idea of opening a pizza joint in a former biker bar. They named it Lilly’s Pizza, after one of their favorite four-legged friends, and it was strictly carryout and delivery. But like the owners themselves, their ravenous fans had to buck
the system. They brought lawn chairs to sit outside with Lilly and enjoy her Damn Good Pizza! Tables and chairs became standard, and Lilly’s came to define the culture of Raleigh’s Five Points area, serving up great art and music, alongside its unique dishes. 30 years later, we’re still serving up the same food and atmosphere the Triangle has come to love and expect.
